Wild turkey (Méléagris galopavo)

Wild turkey (Méléagris galopavo)
The bow hunting and shooting of wild turkeys in New Caledonia, is open all year.
Rrecently imported in 1970 from North America, "Meleagris" is very well developing in New Caledonia's savanna, particularly south territory and along the west coast.
The wild turkey may reach adulthood weighing 7 to 8kg and live almost twelve years. The big male is often the watchman of the group.
