In the northern fine sand island is located the "Northern Pleiades". The reef offers to the angler the opportunity to compete with big monster's GT (Giant Trevally : Caranx Ignobilis), big jacks, dogtooth tuna, Spanish mackerel, and several other marine predators.

Ouvea Island has no ring reef as Grande Terre ; fishing for pelagic fish are far only few miles from the shore of the island.
We may find few bonefish all along the beach west coast line of the island, but the fish are very shy and keep the bottom close. So bonefishing is mostly blind (blind casting) . Few permits may will be tempted by your fly. However Ouvea is definitely the best place where you get a chance to spot and hook one.
Other activities: Traditional and ancestral fisheries and visiting the Water Holes on the property of sir JPW.
New Caledonia : a unique world fishing destination!

From far North to Isle of Pines, from Belep Islands to Ouvea Island, from far South Lagoon to Lifou, Mare or Tiga Islands, inshore or offshore, New Caledonia is certainly one of the best sport fishing destination in the world for both reasons : the variety and size of sport fish species.
If the destination gives to anglers an opportunity to break records, it's thanks to few fishing pressure, commercial (long liners) and recreational fishing. It's also on account of the discipline from Melanesian living along the coastline (Clans of the Sea) taking only the bare necessities to be nourishing their family.
The classification of New Caledonia's lagoons on UNESCO World Heritage of Humanity list has further strengthened this concept of sanctuary and highlighted the extraordinary biodiversity of Caledonian marine environment.
Located in La Foa – Bourail region, NCFS offers big game fishing safaris and/or reef fishing for popping and jigging fishing enthusiasts.

This region has a good halieutic potential, especially in the yellowfin tuna and wahoo presence period.
With a little bit patience, you may hook a milkfish (Chanos chanos) or Pacific tarpon (Megalops). For this particular fishing, you must get special met conditions : early morning (sunrise), no wind, no wave at all on the sea water surface . Fishing wiil stop when the first wrinkle appears on the water surface. At this moment, all fish are going to the deep and then we can go back ; fishing is over!
